Mr. Gordon E. Olson is a Principal of ECG with extensive experience in business strategy & development, strategic market planning, and financial & operations management in the aerospace, defense, energy, consumer, industrial, information technology and healthcare industries. Mr. Olson’s has extensive management, consulting and engineering experience at ECG Consulting Group Inc., Lockheed Martin Corp., General Electric Company, Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory, Inc. and McDonnell Douglas Corporation.
At ECG Consulting Group Inc., Mr. Olson has worked in several business sectors including advanced materials, automotive parts, batteries, power generation systems & instrumentation, power transmission systems and public utilities. His projects have ranged from technology commercialization for new materials and technologies to customer service planning for mature public utilities. His clients have ranged from major corporations to small venture funded startups.
Previously, at Lockheed Martin, Mr. Olson held management positions in strategic and operational planning, program management, medical administration, health systems, and financial management at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, a national laboratory operated by Lockheed Martin, and previously by General Electric, for the U.S. Department of Energy. At General Electric, Mr. Olson was involved in a wide variety of strategic planning, sales, marketing and engineering projects. In the Marketing & Strategic Planning Consulting Services organization, he worked with operating management in Power Systems, Transportation, Lighting and Corporate to address strategy, marketing and business development issues. In the Engineering Consulting Services organization, he worked with operations and corporate management to address issues in product design and structuring, product quality, and engineering staffing and organization.
At Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory Mr. Olson, in the capacity of a systems engineer, focused on designing ballistic missile defense systems. At McDonnell Douglas Corporation Mr. Olson, in the capacity of an aeronautical engineer, worked with members of the original Mercury/Gemini engineering teams to develop astronaut escape procedures for the Gemini B spacecraft, designs for blunt reentry vehicles, and the initial phases of the company’s Space Shuttle Proposal.
Mr. Olson has an S.B. in Aeronautics & Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. He currently serves as President & Board Member of the Harvard Business School Association of Eastern New York, Treasurer & Board Member of the Harvard University Club of Eastern New York and is past President & Board Member of the MIT Alumni Club of Eastern New York.
