Mr. Gordon E. Olson is a Principal of ECG Consulting Group Inc. with extensive experience in business strategy & development, strategic market planning and operational & financial management in industries including energy, government contracting, R&D, information technology, industrial & consumer equipment, aerospace, electronics, advanced materials and healthcare. His experience was obtained at ECG Consulting Group Inc., Lockheed Martin Corp., General Electric Company, Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory and McDonnell Douglas Corp.
At ECG Consulting Group Inc., Mr. Olson has worked with clients ranging from global market leaders to venture funded startups to develop growth strategies, commercialize new technologies and improve profitability and market share. His work includes projects to accelerate organic growth, identify strategic partners & alliances and identify acquisition opportunities. It spans the energy & environmental, advanced materials, communications, electronic components & services, instrumentation, medical equipment and transportation sectors. His energy & environmental projects include oil & gas, coal and nuclear and range from exploration & production to petrochemical refining, generation, transmission & distribution and storage to aftermarket equipment services and utility customer service. His renewable industry experience includes biofuels, fuel cells, hydrogen, solar and environmental instrumentation/filtration.
Previously, at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory Inc. Mr. Olson held management positions in strategic and operational planning, program management, financial management and healthcare administration and information systems. KAPL is a national laboratory focused on Navy Nuclear Propulsion Systems. It provides R&D, training and services and was operated by Lockheed Martin and General Electric Company for the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Navy.
Previously, at General Electric Company, Mr. Olson was involved in a variety of IT, strategic planning, marketing, sales and engineering projects. At GE Information Services, he worked as a Senior Account Representative with professional services and utility customers. At GE Marketing & Strategic Planning Consulting Services he consulted with GE corporate and GE’s Power, Industrial, Transportation Systems, Major Appliance, Housewares and Lighting Systems businesses to resolve strategy, marketing and business growth and development issues. In Engineering Consulting Services, he worked with GE corporate and operating manager on product design, structuring & quality, and staffing & organization projects.
At Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory, Mr. Olson worked as a systems engineer on design and analysis of ballistic missile defense systems. At McDonnell Douglas Corporation, he worked as an aeronautical engineer to develop escape procedures for the Gemini B astronauts, computer models & designs for blunt reentry vehicles, and initial phases of the Space Shuttle Proposal.
Mr. Olson has an M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration, an S.B. in Aeronautics & Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a former President and Director of the Harvard Business School Association of Eastern New York and the MIT Alumni Association of Eastern New York.
